Do you think you are prepared for an emergency situation? Even the most dedicated survivalist can never be 100% fully prepared! Knowledge is essential but having survival gear is a huge plus. They are designed to help anyone in a sticky situation. If you believe that you already have what it takes to survive, at least make sure that you are constantly updating your inventory of items. Also, don't forget about your family and friends. Prepare yourself and your loved ones.

It is highly recommended that everyone have some sort of 72-Hour Survival Kit at the minimum. If a natural disaster were to happen, it might take a while for government agencies to arrive and help you. For example, when Hurricane Katrina hit the mainland, it took FEMA days to help those in great need. The situation was hectic and many people suffered due to the devastation. The lack of basic, yet essential resources such as water resulted in the community coming apart. Desperate people led to a state of anarchy and chaos. That is why you cannot rely on the government to help you and your family if something were to happen. Resources would be extremely limited and it would give you peace of mind if you were at least somewhat prepared.

Survival kits can be purchased at several stores or you can choose to put together your own kits by getting items over time. Make sure that every single member of the family has a kit that fits their needs. For example, a survival kit for children would have different items in it compared to the bag of an adult. Don’t forget to include items that can help raise morale or keep kids occupied.

In addition to every member of the family having their own survival kit, there should also be a family survival kit in the home. Don't forget the office as well. Some people have dedicated their lives to stocking up their inventory of food, water and supplies. These preppers understand that being prepared can mean the difference between life and death. You don’t have to dedicate your life to prepping, just put together a survival kit just in case something were to happen.

Also have a survival kit ready in your vehicle. You never know when you might get stuck in a complicated situation when you are on the road. Be smart about what items you put in the survival kit. If you choose to go off grid, it would be a good idea to have a survival kit that will help you survive in the wild. If you don’t have the time to put together a survival kit, at least purchase a pre-made survival kit. You can find many kits online and even at major stores. Try checking out your local outdoors or camping store. They are sure to carry supplies that can improve your kits. Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you at least have the following items in your kit:

Food
Water
Lighter and/or waterproof matches
Knife
Flashlight with extra batteries
First Aid kit
Stainless steel container for boiling water
Emergency blanket
